“ Maybe the best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. Excellent pulled pork sandwich, fries and cole slaw with a delicious Virginia IPA at The Whiskey Jar downtown Charlottesville. Brownie with ice cream was also great. My sever Jordon is a great guy. Today was his mom’s last day working there ‘cause she’s buying a dump truck. He wants a dump truck too. I said I hope he gets ten dump trucks. Thanks for making a great dinner part of my Charlottesville visit experience! ”
“ Always a good place for a drink in downtown Charlottesville. We stopped by for one drink after dinner and ended up having two! They had a 2 man band from Waynesboro who played nicely. ”
“ I went with a friend for lunch. The decor was authentic and made the place charming. I took the rack ribs with french fries and salad. The meat was really tender with a barbecue sauce. Absolutely loved it. ”
“ The restaurant is so cute and the food is amazing! I absolutely love the cornbread and have to get it every time. I’m also a huge fan of the blackened catfish. This past time I got the oyster poboy with the broccoli salad and both of those were so good. ”
“ The cozy whiskey snug atmosphere welcomes you from the cobblestone of the downtown mall district of Charlottesville. Busy patronage doesn’t preclude the personable service from a friendly and professional staff. The food is prompt and cooked to perfection, I had the 3 meat BBQ platter and wasn’t disappointed with any of the choices. The pork was nice and moist but not too Smokey and a hit of vinegar. Ribs were moist with a good bark and just enough sauce. The sausage was spicier than I thought and a crackling’ good, and went well with the Mac n’ cheese. The collards were Smokey and sweet. Lindsay, the bartender extraordinaire, had nothing but the greatest suggestions and a courteous smile. The Virginia flight is well worth it with an exceptional rye, and the whiskey selection was tremendous and well chosen. ”
“ I was looking for an authentic southern restaurant to take my friend to. This place did not disappoint. very solid a pulled pork. Barbecue nachos was loaded and tasty. The brussels sprout was so good. Everything was seasoned well and not overwhelming. We also try their signature cocktail with whiskey and really like it a cute little place in downtown to recommend. ”
“ We hit happy hour and it was great. Really enjoyed the bourbon and vodka drink. Missed the music but look forward fo going back. Bartenders were great. Friendly and really knowledgeable about the big selection of bourbons/whiskeys. ”
